Secure your office Wi-Fi in 10 minutes
Most insecure office networks aren't the result of advanced attacks, they come down to four things that never got fixed after installation.
1. Change the router's admin password
The default password is often printed on a sticker on the router itself, visible to anyone walking past. Change it first.
2. Turn off WPS
WPS (the quick-pairing button) is convenient but meaningfully increases the risk of intrusion. Most routers let you disable it without affecting normal connections.
3. Set up a separate guest network
Visitors and IoT devices (printers, coffee machines, smart lights) shouldn't share a network with the computers that have access to your finances and customer records.
4. Check which devices are actually connected
Most routers list connected devices. Go through it once a quarter, it's often how old or unknown devices get discovered.
